A smudged nail polish can irritate any woman. We often apply nail polish, leave all our activities and sit still for a few minutes after its application, so that our nail polish can become dry and does not get spoiled. But so many times it has happened that the moment we think that our nails are completely dry and we start going about our work, we realize that it was still wet, and has got smudged, spoiling our entire manicure and of course our mood as well! Many women like me must have gone through this situation. So to help them out, here are some tips on how to apply nail polish in such a way that it dries out quickly, followed by some creative methods to dry nail polish at home.
Tips on Applying Nail Polish
How quickly you will be able to dry nail polish, depends a great deal on the way you apply a coat of polish on your nail. Ideally, you should apply two coats of a nail paint on your nail. The second coat is usually applied to give the nail an even look. However, the mistake most women make is that they apply thick coats of nail polish, both the times. This should be avoided as two thick layers will take a lot of time to dry. So, in order to dry nails fast, always apply thin coats of polish.
Another thing that should be kept in mind, post nail polish application, is to apply a coat of fast-drying, transparent nail polish, on top of the polish. These fast drying transparent nail polishes contain ingredients such as mineral oil, which not only help in protecting the nail polish from getting chipped, but also aid in nail care. These clear nail polishes make the nail polish dry out quickly too.
Methods to Dry Nail Polish Quickly
Use a Fan
One the simplest ways to dry nail polish is to keep your hands in front of the fan. Although it may take some time before the nail polish will be fully dry, this method is the cheapest and requires nothing but a little extra time. Read more on nail polish pens.
Blow-Dry
The fastest way to dry nail polish, is to use a blow dryer, and direct its air towards your nails. Remember to set the blow dryer to the minimum while drying the nails. It would take about two minutes for the nail polish to become completely dry, when using a blow dryer.
Chilled Water
Another quick dry nail polish method is to soak your nails in chilled water for about one minute after applying nail polish to them. Simply keep a bowl of water in the freezer of your refrigerator for about fifteen minutes. In the meantime, apply nail polish to your nails. Take out the bowl of water and dip your freshly painted nails in it. The chilled water will help in setting the nail paint on the nails, thus drying them quickly in the process.
Nail Sprays
Fast-drying nail sprays, which are available in many beauty stores these days, are also used to dry the nail polish quickly. After applying the nail polish, spray the nails with the nail spray in such a way that an even, thin layer is formed. Keep the nail spray bottle slightly away from the nails while spraying as keeping the bottle too close can sometimes chip the nail polish.
